After seeing a couple of Rolex pieces on here I thought I’d share my modest collection of watches. One caveat here: the two fanciest pieces are the ones with which you should be least impressed.
Of these pieces, the Tissot is my favourite - it was the first serious watch I purchased for myself while I was on a trip in Paris. I like the textured face, Roman numeral markers and the black leather strap. It’s automatic, and hasn’t been worn recently but I love it every time I wear it.
The Timex was a gift from my father when I was younger. I’ve since replaced the metal strap with a NATO one off eBay - I wear this in the summer all the time since even if it gets sweaty, you can just toss the NATO strap into the washer with your laundry. Sweat is hell on other kinds of straps.
The “Chanel” and the “Patek” are purely for show - they were cheaper than the Timex. Oddly enough, they both keep time very well, the Patek is a surprisingly decent automatic and the Chanel is quartz, which is kind of a giveaway since I believe all real J12s are automatic. In any case, these were purchased because I love the look and feel of them.
What kind of watches do you guys have and normally wear? What is your perfect/dream watch?
Also, to thank you all for your time, I found two bonus pics on my camera that I had forgotten about:

Love the Tissot. I am hoping to get myself one at some point. I have 15 watches myself. Several Fossils, a couple of Bulovas, a nice Festina Tour de France watch that I picked up for super cheap, and what I am wearing now, which is a Sea-Gull. Say what you want about Chinese watches, but I absolutely love mine.

I wear my mechanical Raketa almost every day. Soviet/Russian watches have a lot of character.

I like that Seagull very much, reminds me of Breguet watches. Of the watches I’d like to get next, I definitely want one with a power reserve like yours. I love blue hands as well, they look so nice.

Cool! I like the case and the contrast with the dial - is it automatic or quartz?

Thanks! I was hoping I wasn’t coming off as sounding like a snob. Yeah the blue hands are what sold it for me. That and the flying wheel is quite fun to watch. I look at it like this.... Go with what you like, not with what costs the most. I won’t lie, I would love to someday be able to afford a Ball or a Tag though.

Neither? I have to wind it every day or so. I’m not too use to watch terms...

I have two G-Shocks, a Solar Powered one and a G’Mix GBA-400. I think I’m going to spring for the Moto 360 (2nd gen)!

Here’s my modest collection. Sadly the Autodromo is broken, but I’ve got a new movement ready to install whenever I get the time. It’s my favorite of the bunch, followed by the Seiko on the left and the Tag.
I’m pretty happy with the collection though, the only other watches I want are a Tag Heuer Carrera and Monaco, which won’t be for a while.

I missed the fact that you said mechanical which is my fault - automatic is self-winding (movements of your wrist wind it) and quartz is battery powered. This would be a manual-wind watch - you don’t see too many of them these days, so that’s even cooler that I had thought!

I’ve thought about trying out a smart watch. My only worry is that, like phones, they would become obsolete over time. I could be completely wrong on that, though. The Moto you speak of looks pretty awesome indeed.

Okay, yeah. It’s from the late 80’s or early 90’s so not too new but not really that old.

I like the Autodromo - looks like a tachometer for your wrist. I may have to investigate these a bit further for my own collection.
The Orvis looks pretty neat, too - I like those old military/pilot style watches.
Tag Heuer Carreras are nice but I think the Monaco is really something else - that awesome classic square design, plus Steve McQueen, is just the epitome of old school cool.
Very nice stuff, thanks for sharing!

Fritter and waste the hours in an Oppohand way. I don’t believe in time, but I’d like a Tag Heuer someday.

I’ve seen lots of G-Shock watches before, but never the G’Mix - so yours can actually control music play on Bluetooth devices? Does it still use standard coin batteries or does it need to charge over USB or some other connection?
I personally haven’t seen or used a smartwatch in person, so I’m still undecided on it. My bias is towards full mechanical watches, but I love tech so I’m not opposed to them. I especially like the fact that some people have programmed neat faces for them - I remember seeing one with a Goldeneye N64 theme, and one with a Fallout Pip-Boy theme as well. Even if my watch enthusiast side doesn’t agree, my nerd side definitely does!

Mostly Invictas with a couple Stuhrlings and Fossils, a Tommy Bahama, and a Steinhart thrown in. I have massive wrists, so I’m limited by having to wear hockey puck-sized watches.
Close-up of the Steinhart
And my dive watch, which I think is super cool.

The G’Mix uses standard batteries, I believe. None of that “charging crap”; been using mine since June and it’s still running like a charm!
It's quite nice, in the middle void between watch and smart watch. The Moto is compelling because circle and watch.

Here’s the rest of mine, including a few that my fiancé has. She didn’t own any watches until I came along. I guess I must have influenced her at least a little lol.

That’s quite a collection! What is your opinion of the Sturhlings you have? Have they held up pretty well? I know at first many considered it a mushroom brand, but they have been around for several years now and I don’t see them going away.

I tend to like simple watches - that Steinhart looks very cool but would probably look out of place on my wrist since these pilot-style watches do tend to be large. I have the opposite problem of yours, my wrists aren’t so big and so anything larger than a 40mm case starts to look out of place.
If you’re into their design, TW Steel watches might be a good fit for you since they basically specialize in larger watches. I don’t know much about them but maybe something to look out for if you’re looking for another watch (although you have a nice collection as it is).

I have a Seiko 5. It's got a blue dial and an automatic movement. I wear it pretty much everyday. Fancy enough to make it feel special and nice without having to care about it getting scratched. Love the damned thing.

Yeah, I’m familiar with TW. I haven’t really looked at watches since I stopped wearing suits every day, but when I checked them out, they were pretty bro-ey looking. I like Invicta because they make nice, classy looking stuff, only huge.

Yeah, I dig them. I had been looking at watches with exposed action, so my ex picked me up one for my birthday. When I looked at it, I was like ‘oh shit, a Stuhrling.’ But it looks great, and it’s held up great. So when I was looking for a sporty watch, I didn’t hesitate to go with a Stuhrling. That one’s been awesome too. You can see ‘em both in that second picture. The gold and white one in the upper left, and the black and orange one over to the right.

Thanks! I guess you could say I am a bit eclectic with my tastes lol. The one with the big blue face in the top pic on the bottom row is one of my favs. It’s an Android double escapement (though one is a dummy, strictly for looks) that I got as a birthday gift. The only thing I don’t like is how the crown is located at the top. The strap is very thick and it’s a bitch to wind, but I still love it.
